She's almost finished!

"Aspen Glow, " featuring Winter's Lane by Kate & Birdie Paper Co,  is almost finished!  Thanks to two fantastic nappers today, I managed to finish the quilting and attach the binding.

If you've been following me for awhile, you'll know that I'm rather a minimalist when it comes to quilting.  I typically favor straight-line quilting, echoing the blocks, which is what I chose for this quilt as well.  In all honesty, quilting the top is my least favorite part of the process, so I'm happy that this one went rapidly, without any fiasco. I wanted to give it just enough movement around the flower blocks to make them pop, while creating a bit of illusion around the square blocks to give them a bit of a woven look.  I can't tell you how much I love, love, LOVE the finished prouct!

I'm planning on sewing the binding down in front of the TV tonight, while catching up on my trashy Bravo shows and maybe a couple of episodes of our new favorite Netflix series, "Orange is the New Black."

Patterns and kits will be available in the shops this weekend, but you can email me at CorasQuilts{at}gmail{dot}com to reserve a kit or to be on the notification list when then pattern goes live.  The pattern is 22 full color pages, and includes instructions for making a wall-hanging, lap size quilt, and queen size quilt.  More pictures can be seen this post.

Meanwhile, be sure to swing by Fabric Tuesday @ Quilt Story and WIP Wednesday @ Freshly Pieced for more inspiring projects!

Weekend finish!

I decided to take a break from my pattern writing and sample sewing to do a little bit of "just because" sewing.  The crisp, fall-like early mornings we've been having put me in the mood to do a little bit of fall sewing.

I pulled together some of my favorite Sandy Gervais fall prints and whipped up a new Falling Leaves Table Runner.

I love how the retro-y orange, avocado green, sunny yellow, and chocolate brown come together perfectly  ... and my neighbor's tree is looking beautiful too!

If you'd like to make your own version, patterns are available in our Craftsy and Etsy shops for immediate download - there's nothing like instant gratification!!

Speaking of patterns, if you've made a project using a Cora's Quilt pattern, be sure to share your photos in our Flickr group or tag us on Instagram using #CorasQuilts.

This week, I'm linking up with these sites!  Be sure to stop by and see the beautiful projects going in blogland!

Design Wall Monday

Happy Monday!  Just popping in to share a quick picture of my Winter's Lane quilt.

Last week, I finished my blocks, which finish at a whopping 20" ...

.... and this weekend, I managed to finish the sashing blocks and put the quilt top together.

Hoping to get the final solid white borders attached this week and begin some quilting!  The pattern for this quilt will be releasing the first week of September, and will include instructions for a 48" Wallhanging, a 73" Lap Sized Quilt, and a 96" Queen sized quilt.

Lap Size: 73" x 73"

Queen Size: 96" x 96"
If you'd like me to shoot you an email once the pattern is available, just let me know by emailing me at CorasQuilts{at}gmail{dot}com.

In the meantime, I'm linking up with these sites this week:

Back in the saddle again ..

... Ok ... maybe just a foot in the stirrup, but we're getting there!

Little Jameson joined our family on 7/12/13. He's a wonderfully peaceful little soul that has Mom, Dad, and Big Brother Aiden absolutely wrapped around his finger.

Before Jamie arrived, I had been playing around with a new quilt pattern based on the motif in this beautiful rug I came across on Pintrest.

Tara Rug by Joss and Main

Before going into labor, I managed to sketch out my pattern and get my hands on some fabric from my favorite 2013 Christmas line, Winter's Lane by Kate & Birdie Paper Co.

Lucky, Jamie is perfectly content to hang out in his Moby wrap, snuggling and snoozing while I sew, so I've been able to put together these blocks.

I'm hoping to be able to finish my sashing blocks this week and have a Friday Finish to share!  In the meantime, I'm linking up with Design Wall Monday over at Patchwork Times, Fabric Tuesday at Quilt Story and WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced - be sure to stop by and check out all the wonderful projects going on in blogland!

Happy Sewing!
