May AYOS Finish!

My little man has decided lately that napping is for weenies ... so I don't have a finished AYOS to share!  Fortunately, I was able to finish piecing the top and barely managed to sneak outside for a few pictures this afternoon during one of his little cat naps.

This month's Schnibbles pattern was Doc.  I made my version using Pure by Sweetwater for Moda.  I'm so happy that I've been able to make all five of my AYOS projects {mostly} using stashed fabrics, but since I only had a partial layer cake left for this month's project, I was a little limited in my color placement.  I'm happy with the way everything worked out, though!

Since this quilt is intended for a little boy, I did away with the white sashing in between the Card Trick blocks (to me, it made the quilt look more feminine), and opted for dark brown corners instead.  I really love how they came together to form a secondary design in the middle!!

My plan is to finish the whole thing up with some basic straight line quilting to echo the block outlines, and use the same dark brown polka dot fabric for the binding!

Be sure to stop by A Quilting Life and Pink Pincushion tomorrow to see the parade of quilt finishes!

PS - Luigi couldn't be budged from his nap in the shade in order to have his picture taken ...

... but Lily, diva that she is, was happy to pose.  Happy Sewing!

  1. I really like your Doc! You mentioned "limited color placement" but I think it looks spectacular. I love the different setting, too.

  2. I love your color choices..very pretty quilt!

  3. wow love your version on this one and your choice of fabrics it just perfect for a boy :)

  4. I love the way you set your blocks! Great Schnibbles!

  5. Your Doc is amazing! I love the way you changed it. It is so fun to see so many different ways to use the same pattern. I love the fabric you used too! I so wish I had gotten some of that line. That was before I had discovered Sweetwater. Using dots for the binding will be amazing :-)

  6. Wow! What a difference it makes omitting the sashing! Again, I say, it blows me away how we all start with the same set of instructions and all end up with something so unique! Bravo! It is stunning. See you in the next parade!

  7. I LOVE your version of Doc! Congratulations on a wonderful finish, I'm so impressed with your creativity!
